A Case of Wrist Pain Suspected to be Caused by Bone Metastasis of Breast Cancer -Bone Metastasis and Bone Necrosis-

A 50-year old woman complained of right wrist pain 7 years after surgery for breast cancer. Osteosclerosis of the scaphoid was recognized on X-ray film, and extension of the bone lesion to the lunate was revealed by magnetic resonance. Metastasis of breast cancer was strongly suggested by magnetic resonance, but the lesion was diagnosed as ischemic osteonecrosis of both the scaphoid and lunate on the basis of computed tomographic and radiographic findings. Since the wrist pain gradually increased, radial closing wedged osteotomy was performed. The wrist pain resolved postoperatively.
