Abstract Adenocarcinoma is the most common malignant neoplasm of the gallbladder, but squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is rare with an incidence of 1.4∼3.3%. We present a recent case of a 63-year-old man complaining of abdominal distention. Preoperative US and CT revealed a large tumor of the gallbladder infiltrating the liver and transverse colon. Cholecystectomy, subsegmental resection of the liver, lymph node dissection, and partial resection of the transverse colon were performed. The resected specimen was histologically diagnosed as SCC without nodal metastases.
