Student Life

1. Student Support System

・Fully Supports Student’s Life

Nippon Medical School has set up a very convenient “Student Advisor System” so that students can directly ask questions about the lectures and experiments to their teachers and superiors. Also, if the students have any problems, they can visit the Student Counsel Room to talk about their concern. Our school supports the students in every way so that our students can focus on their studies completely.

・Student Advisor System

Student Advisor System

We have set up “ Student Advisor System” based upon the concept of “Peer Support System” which is adopted in the US medical schools.

From every year, first to the sixth, there are two people representing that year and will make a small group. To every group there will be assigned Student Advisors, such as Professors, Assistant Professors and Lecturers. These groups will have regular meetings in order to discuss with students their concerns, questions, consultations and requests.

The reason we have the groups consist of every grade is we thought by having communications with superiors, students can actually gain lots of information, and as a result, will gain motivation to do better. Also we would like to take advantage of reflecting the voices of the actual students and their ideas in the actual education.

・Student Consultations

We have set up “ Student Consultation” in both Musashisakai and Sendagi Campuses. The councilors help the students with various problems. Not only do they have consultations with the students but also with parents, so come down directly to our office. Please refer to the following website to know more about this class.

・Infirmary

At the Infirmary, we support the students’ health so that they can have a fulfilled life at campus. Based upon School Infirmary Safety law, we have health check, releasing medical certificate both in English and Japanese. Also, we provide health consultations and non-smoking consultation (with appointment), so please take advantage of them.

2. Extracurricular Activities

・School Festival

School Festival

This is a University Festival sponsored by school festival executive committee. This is set to provide the opportunity for the students to showcase their research in their daily club activities. Not only does this give the students the chance to further develop the relationship among students but also it is a wonderful opportunity to foster relationships among the graduates, the faculty and people outside the University. This event aims to involve all the people in the university.

・Sports Day for the Whole School

Student Association Athletic Club sponsors this event: Sports Day. Every year, on a Saturday around the end of April, from all students in year 1 to year 6 will participate in various competitions in accordance to the year they belong to and they compete against one another to determine who and which year is the winner. It is full of competitive events but at the same time, there are friendly events, such as cheering competition. The purpose of this event is that we hope to see all the students get involved and foster friendships no matter what year they are in.

・All East-Japan Medical School Students Athletic Meet.

As the name implies, all the medical students studying in medical schools, be it national, public or private, will attend this Meet. There are Summer and Winter Meets and in the past 36 medical schools participated (number taken in 2005). Nippon Medical School has achieved the overall championship once in the past. In 2001, we have become the major sponsor of this event.

3. Club Activities

Club Activities

In our school, we have Student Association, which is like Student Council, that every student belongs to and controls the following clubs and associations. We would like all our students to take active part in various activities, taking advantage of his/her interests and talents fully. The activities held by Student Association can only be run successfully when the students participate actively.
